Christ's Attitude

Christ's Attitude ²

_That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth. *Phi 2v10 KJV*_

- Brother Damola

Do you know anyone in church who does not know Phil 2:10? You'll hardly see one. Though most of us can recite that verse offhand, only few of us is living out the context of the message Paul was teaching right there; the message Paul was passing across to us here is about the attitude of Christ. It is about imitating Christ and not just about declaring the supremacy of His name.

*Phil 2:1-5 NLT*
_Is there any encouragement from belonging to Christ? Any comfort from his love? Any fellowship together in the Spirit? Are your hearts tender and compassionate? Then make me truly happy by agreeing wholeheartedly with each other, loving one another, and working together with one mind and purpose. Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too. *You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had.*_

It is all about what to do and how to do it. It's about a way of life. Yes, the name of Jesus is higher than any other names. Glory to God! His name is powerful, demons tremble at His name, His name hea the sick, set the captive free etc. His name is matchless and all powerful. Hallelujah! What is often forgotten is how Jesus attained that status. He attained it by the way He lived. By His choice to let go of Himself, stripped Himself of His glory and became a man, born in a meager, lived like the kids next door, screamed at, yelled at and abused.

When you think about the name of Jesus, these should ring a bell in your heart. His attitude must come to your mind. He was selfless, humble and never tried to impress anyone. KJV put the first part of verse four(4) thusly, _Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory._ You can't go about pioneering division, seeking glory for yourself and claim to be Christlike. That kind of lifestyle is anti-Christ. You've got to be selfless and humble. Like, humble.

Why are you doing the things you're doing? To get the applause of men? To be liked by all? To have the approval of men? To be famous and be regarded by many as hero or heroine? What's your goal? None of these was Jesus' goal. He despised the approval of men, he never sought for it. He was humble and lowly in heart. He did nothing to impress man, He lived solely for the will of the Father, seeking to do His will and to bring Him glory. Have this same attitude!

*Joh 5:30 KJV* _I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me._
