Divine Healing: Why some are healed and many are not. Is God fair? Must Read

Divine Healing: Why some are healed and many are not.

*how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how he went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with him. Acts 10:38 NIV*

There is a question that is commonly asked today, "Is healing for today?" I think its because we don't get to see the same supernatural lines in scripture like walking on water, feeding five thousand people, raising the dead etc. This curiosity has seen many numbers lying dead who needed healing. I believe God still heals, but I don't believe He heals everyone. If you go by Acts 10:38 of course you would want God to heal every sick person, but let's examine more verses carefully. Jesus didn't heal everyone in Jerusalem; He didn't raise every dead person.

*Now there is in Jerusalem near the Sheep Gate a pool, which in Aramaic is called Bethesda and which is surrounded by five covered colonnades. Here a great number of disabled people used to lie—the blind, the lame, the paralyzed. One who was there had been an invalid for thirty-eight years. Then Jesus said to him, “Get up! Pick up your mat and walk.”  At once the man was cured; he picked up his mat and walked. The day on which this took place was a Sabbath, John 5:2‭-‬3‭, ‬5‭, ‬8‭-‬9 NIV*

In John 5, there were a multitude of sick people at the pool, but only one man got out healed. I believe Jesus always did His father's will, and that day it wasn't His father's will to heal everyone. Imagine what happened at that pool when the other sick folks saw this man leave the abnormal into the life he longed for? I can imagine them saying "Hey Jesus! Over here! Won't you heal us?" And Jesus asked His father, "Father should I heal them?" I believe He said "No don't heal them." Jesus should have conducted a revival there right? Just like many preachers do today.

In Acts 3, there was a man lame from his mother's womb. He had begged for alms all his life at the gate of the temple. Jesus had passed by that gate many times but didn't heal that man. Each time Jesus passed by He would instruct Judas to give him some cash. But according to the will and purpose of God, many years later that same man was healed by God through Peter and John. Jesus could have also healed Lazarus with just one word, but He allowed him to die. I believe God said to His son "Don't heal him now, let's raise him from the dead later."

There are many cases where Jesus healed the multitude. Everyone that came for the meeting got a touch. Sometimes it was their deliberate faith, and other times it was Jesus' anointing that healed them. Remember the woman with a blood issue. She said "If only I could but touch the hem of His clothe, I will be healed." Her faith got her healed. In some other case Jesus laid His hands on sick folks, let's examine a few verses.

*And it came to pass, that when Jesus had finished these sayings, he departed from Galilee, and came into the coasts of Judaea beyond Jordan;  And great multitudes followed him; and he healed them there. Matthew 19:1‭-‬2 KJV*

*Great crowds came to him, bringing the lame, the blind, the crippled, the mute and many others, and laid them at his feet; and he healed them. Matthew 15:30 NIV*

Well, the Bible is way beyond our culture, time and civilization. Let's examine our contemporary world. Millions of children die every month from starvation related diseases, hundreds of thousands die through cancer etc. Why does God allow all this to happen? I want to begin by telling you that I don't know. God's ways are not our ways. He allowed all the first born sons in Egypt to be killed, He allowed Herod to kill new born babies when Jesus was born, He allowed Steven to be martyred. When we die and go to heaven we will understand why He did everything the way He did. We are limited in our understanding down here, but when He comes we will know in full.

The popular Ravi Zacharias has just passed on to glory. He suffered from cancer in the later part of his life. Why didn't God heal him? A man who served God and inspired others, why didn't God heal such a good man? I don't know. But we have to trust the sovereignty of God. We have to understand that God knows best. I have been hit by tragedies in my own life. I can't understand why but when I die I will. God has the blueprint of our lives, the Bible says He knows the number of our years. We must trust that He is God and what He does with us is His business.

Some people say "Well, that's not fair." Well, imagine if life was fair. Imagine if you got exactly what you deserved. All of us deserve hell. Thank God we don't get what we deserve. I will go on to explain some reasons why we go through difficult times, I believe it will help you understand the universe quite better.

1. We are evil
All of us are evil. There is no one of us who can boast of perfection. We are the descendants of a rebellious nature. Jesus said "No one is good but God." But we all expect to have a fair result. I don't think the devil would like to spend an eternity in hell. We go through troubles because we carry a fallen nature. In Christ we are new creatures, but we still suffer because we are still in the world, under a principle that governor's the world.

2. The god of this world
The devil is responsible for many of the troubles in the world. God didn't cause the hurricanes or earthquakes. We have to realise that we are in conflict with the god of this world, see 2Cor4vs4.

3. Sin is the cause
We either suffer for our own sin, the sin of others or Satan's own sin. We are affected by all three. We have to realise the effect sin has on this universe. Until God will destroy sin at the last day, we will suffer consequences of our sins. For example, if the governor steals money for public service, the masses will suffer for his sin. There will be no good road, electricity or good education. I believe sin can cause sickness. Not all sicknesses are caused by sin. In James 5, it talks about praying for the sick, "And if he had committed sins it shall be forgiven him." James is saying "Just in case his sickness is as a result of his sin."

The summary is, God is all powerful. He still heals today and forever. The three Hebrew boys said "God will deliver us, and even if He doesn't we won't bow." This should be our attitude. Don't bow because you didn't get healed. Are you sick right now, I want to pray with you.

"Father, I thank you for my brothers and sisters reading this message. If there be anyone of them sick, I ask you to heal them, I ask you to work your will in their health in Jesus name. You said we should ask and you will do it. We have asked all this through Jesus' name, Amen!"
